The Adamela Trust
The Adamela Trust is a not-for-profit organisation created by journalists at the Mail & Guardian to foster journalism in South Africa, the SADC region and across Africa.
Since 2016, Adamela has sought to address career and capacity challenges in newsrooms by creating funded programmes that give journalists the time, space, resources and support they need to do justice to their areas of focus and expertise.
It has done so through fellowships dedicated to financial, data, climate and social justice reporting; through the creation of dedicated reporting hubs featuring junior, mid-level and senior journalists; and through programmes designed to provide opportunity, competitive rates and prompt payments to freelance journalists across the country and the continent.
Adamela is also the publisher of The Continent, the award-winning Pan-African digital newspaper.
